From the supplier: Joseph P. Neville, professor of mechanical engineering technology at Wentworth Institute of Technology, Boston, MA, uses Discovery Systems International Inc’s Course Builder authoring program to develop Macintosh interactive tutorial modules and lecture aids for his 15-week Materials course. This approach allows him to teach more students with a range of learning abilities. Neville adds color, animation and simulations to his visual aids to clarify subjects during large screen presentations. The self-study modules cover one week’s lectures contained in 500Kbyte segments stored in a 30Mbyte chunk on the file server. Each module has theory review, 12 solved problems, 20 exercises, a quiz and an advanced problem. Feedback statements help students correct mistakes. Final exam scores have gone up by 10 points since using the system. Neville plans to evaluate student work and develop a Windows version.
